Author Suzanne Burke provides us with another bewitching writing prompt - a door with the number 13 on it. Perhaps you'd like to write a poem or story or a one-line response. If so, please go to Soooz's blog site by clicking on her name. You'll find instructions, encouragement, and a community of writers. It's great fun!

My response to the prompt is below. I hope you enjoy it.

APARTMENT 13 ... or NOT
“What do you mean you fixed it?”

“Let’s just say, I took care of it. Trust me, Louise.”

“I trust you. It’s just that I’m curious. I don’t understand how you could have fixed it. You know what people say about that apartment.”

“I don’t believe such rubbish.”

“But others do, Bob, and they’ll be afraid to visit.” Her voice rising out of pure frustration.

“That’s why I fixed it!”

“Okay, enough of this. We’ll see.”

They turned the corner of the building and entered the refurbished apartment structure. Another couple hurried past them as they approached the elevator door.

“Second floor, right?”

“Yeah, second floor.”

She punched the elevator button and looked at the apartment list. There was no number 13. She looked over to Bob. “What did you do?”

“Nothing really. The one and three are still there. No harm done.”

“But, but where’s our apartment?”

“It’s there. I promise. It’s there.”

The elevator stopped abruptly at the second floor and the two walked down the long hall to their new apartment. Standing in front of the door, she hesitated. At first, she didn’t notice it, but then a smile stretched across her face. Turning she gave Robert a huge hug.

“You know I love you right?”
some doors are just doors
others open to magic
maybe it's our choice

Author Colleen Chesebro offers another #Poetry challenge and invites us to use the #ekphrastic style. This is my first attempt to write an ekphrastic poem, and I'm not sure I've captured its intent. Perhaps you'd like to join me in this effort, and if so, click on Colleen's name and you'll be taken to her website.

Using a haiku form, here's my poem:

Author Colleen Chesebro invites readers to respond to her weekly poetry challenge. I've learned a lot through Colleen's prompts and encouragment, and hope you might give it a try as well. Here's her link:  #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE #SYNONYMSONLY.

My poem is a bit metaphysical, using Colleen's suggested opposities and synonyms. I hope you enjoy it. I've entitled it The Closed Door.

Author Suzanne Burke provides another extraordinary photo prompt and invites contributions for her Fiction In A Flash Challenge. This week's image is a baby elephant and mom. My response is a simple Tanka poem of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.

When I saw this prompt, I thought of moms everywhere who help their children take their first steps in life. For this reason, I've entitled my poem, Mama Love.

If you'd like to participate, please click on Suzanne's name and you'll travel to her website, where she provides information about the prompt. I hope you decide to join in the fun!

Hello readers, today I stumbled upon the Sue Vincent Rodeo Classic. This literary rodeo invites participants to write a 99 word story or poem using the image below as a prompt. Sue is an amazing writer and an inspiration to all who know her, and purely because of her, I've jumped in with a poem.

When I gazed upon this beautiful image, I wished I could fly. Wouldn't it be fun? It was that sentiment that prompted my 99-word poem. I've entitled it Deja vu. I hope you enjoy it. 💙

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
