The Closed Door . . .

Author Colleen Chesebro invites readers to respond to her weekly poetry challenge. I've learned a lot through Colleen's prompts and encouragment, and hope you might give it a try as well. Here's her link:  #TANKA TUESDAY #POETRY CHALLENGE #SYNONYMSONLY.

My poem is a bit metaphysical, using Colleen's suggested opposities and synonyms. I hope you enjoy it. I've entitled it The Closed Door.

People come and go, but your poem reflects perfectly, the renewal of old freindships. Nicely done, Gwen!

Life does have a tendency to shake us awake. Here's to all the right doors opening. This is lovely, Gwen. Thanks for sharing it with us. Hugs on the wing.

This one actually reminds me of my grandmother’s early phases of Alzheimer’s disease. She had good days and bad, but the good ones got fewer and fewer.

Hi,

Sometimes the closed door opens only when time has matured and two people are ready to meet, They have never met before. There is only the feeling of missing someone until it is time for the revelation. I like your poem. These are thoughts that make me think.

Beautiful, Gwen! I think we have all learnt not to take things for granted - it is sad when one is seen but not really known. I'm sure we will all be opening our doors for each other when possible and truly taking notice of those around us.

Gwen, this is my kind of poetry! I especially like the life lessons learned from friendship theme. We lost track of so many friends when we were in the military (before social media). It really makes me sad to think of all the good times we had. Poignant poetry! <3

Hi Gwen, this is beautifully mystical. I haven't been writing much poetry again - my brain doesn't produce poetry when I am stressed.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
