Mama love

Author Suzanne Burke provides another extraordinary photo prompt and invites contributions for her Fiction In A Flash Challenge. This week's image is a baby elephant and mom. My response is a simple Tanka poem of 5-7-5-7-7 syllables.

When I saw this prompt, I thought of moms everywhere who help their children take their first steps in life. For this reason, I've entitled my poem, Mama Love.

Elephants are very caring families. When one dies, they won't leave them, grieving until they are able to move on. Lovely interpretation of this picture.
