The Final Journey

Hello dear blog friends, it's #TankaTuesday and author Colleen Chesebro has another poetry prompt. Because this is the fourth Tuesday of the month, the prompt is a theme: EXPEDITION. When I saw this, my thoughts went immediately to the journey we all take in life. I decided to write a Butterfly Cinquain, which has 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2 syllables, because of the symbolism of this little flying beauty. I hope you like it.

My poem is called The Final Journey. I hope you like it. Have a wonderful week!

Hi,
Your poem starts out with two powerful commands: Listen and Quiet your heart. It's amazing how difficult it is to do these two things. Our cluttered minds make noise that makes it difficult to listen and our hearts yearn for things that are only temporary and not eternal. I like this poem because it places value on the elements that are so needed in our lives as we move toward that final journey.
Great job.
Shalom aleichem

The first thing that came to my mind was one of my first memories...
I think I was being bathed in the kitchen sink at my grandmother's house by my mother....
A flight of fancy for me, since she passed when I was very young ...
and I certainly hope she is also comforted by 'Light'.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
