The Eagle and Our Pilgrimage

Hello blog friends,

I've another poem to share. It's an unusual one, a special challenge from Colleen Chesebro. In her own words, master poet Colleen explains:

This week's challenge is to write an Imayo poem. Your subject must be about a bird. The imayo is composed of four 12-syllable lines. Each line is divided into a 7-syllable and 5-syllable section, with a hard pause in between.

I've a special love for eagles, so my Imayo focuses on this magnificent bird. I hope you enjoy it.

Have a wonderful weekend - hopefully with cool breezes and soft sunshine. 🌞

This poem has touched my heart in a very special way. My daughter became a widow at the young age of 29. She believes that her husband's soul has flown with the eagles, his favorite bird.
I am sending your beautiful poem to her. The last line brought tears to my eyes: "they reveal the pilgrimage, hearts bound for heaven."

Fabulous, Gwen! And gorgeous to LOOK at, too, with that photo behind it. Florida is second only to Alaska in bald eagle populations (the last time I checked), and they are definitely one of my favorite birds. You can't help but get excited when you see one soaring overhead, and your poem expresses that feeling beautifully! 🤗❤️🤗

Thank you, dear Marcia. I rarely see them in AZ, but I used to see them daily in Branson. They are magnificent to watch. ❤️

This is so beautiful, Gwen. And what a special gift you've given Karen's daughter. Seeing an eagle in the wild is always a treat. Thanks for sharing. xo

It had to be difficult to work out all of that, Gwen. But you did it so well. Hugs on the wing.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
