Spring's Celebration . . .

5/16/2023

Hello blog friends,

The high desert of Arizona is abloom and even the weeds are celebrating. This past weekend, I worked in the garden a bit and then enjoyed handfuls of fresh strawberries. It was a delight.

Today master poet Colleen Chesebro invites followers to write a syllabic poem with synonyms of WORK and PLAY. My contribution relates to my strawberry patch and uses opposites of rainfall/sunshine and buried/released -- both capturing work and play. I hope you like the tanka.

Time to make strawberry pie...or a cobbler...maybe a sorbet...or just a bowl of fresh strawberries and cream!

There is nothing like the rewards that come from a garden and fresh-picked strawberries are so wonderful. What a great photo and poem, Gwen. A fabulous response to the prompt.

Beautiful poem, beautiful picture, beautiful imagery, Gwen! You rock at these! And even though spring has long ago sprung and passed into summer down here in Florida, I was transported back to a cooler day and the fun of gardening. (Especially when you can EAT the fruits of your labor!) Lovely! 😊❤️😊

This is lovely, Gwen. I miss my CA strawberry garden. I'm struggling to grow things in Prescott. My tomatoes have not been a success for two years, but I'm not giving up. I haven't tried strawberries. Maybe I will now that you are having success. :)
