Spring winds

Hello dear blog friends,

Today writer Colleen Chesebro invites us to reflect on early Spring through a syllabic poem. I've created a Tanka for my entry and used common wildlife to illustrate the verses.

There are signs of Spring in our area of high desert. But at 5,000 feet elevation, Spring is elusive. That said, the snow is beginning to melt, the muddied paths are a bit drier, and the winds are calmer - for now. Tomorrow may return us to Winter, but today I'll enjoy sunshine.

I hope you're staying warm through the erratic seasonal changes. I also hope you enjoy my simple poem:

Have a wonderful day! 🌞

A lovely "eternal dance," Gwen. The rolling of the seasons never grows stale. Enjoy your high dessert glimpses of spring. <3

Thank you, Diana. The sunshine is a blessed relief. I love seeing the little creatures reappear. 😊

The animals are the first signs even before the flowers - which are always so so late! :) Happy day with no snow.

Thank you, Marsha. Happy indeed. My adult children live in the Northeast, and they are dealing with a lot of snow. But -- they're young and can use a snow shovel much better than me. 😊

I like the emphasis on the animals rather than the usual plants in spring. I tend to forget them since they aren't in my own backyard!

Thank you, Lisa. I walk a trail close to my home, and the little critters often say hello. 😊

This is lovely, Gwen. There's something special about the way winter and spring tangle with each other.

HI Gwen, A Spring poem indeed and a lovely photograph. I can't imagine it turning cold after this sunshine. If it does, then the weather is definitely erratic.

What a beautiful photo - perfect to go with your lovely poem, Gwen.
We were teased with some false spring weather, but I am not trusting it! To wit, it was fa-ree-zing this morning!

"And the seasons they go round and round..." There is something comforting in knowing how they transition and turn, and I'm sure the critters and plants feel that same comfort. Beautiful poem and image.

In New England, we can't even dream of spring. One 'warmish' day (35 degrees?) and we get hopeful and then snow - all of March and into April. Well, maybe I CAN dream. :-) Lovely poem.

I enjoy seeing deer occasionally across the creek, rarely in my yard!
The Cooper's hawks and an occasional eagle too. Not much stirring today after about 4 inches of overnight snow...still just a bit falling, but the streets and sidewalks are clear.

There are some avian friends at the feeders. The squirrels are sleeping in this Saturday :)

Cheers!

Thank you for sharing, Jules. I've not put out feeders as we've so so many ravens. I love them, but they can leave quite a mess. One day I heard someone walking on our roof. I went outside and it was a raven. LOL.

Great poem, Gwen! Nature does sometimes feel as if it's dancing to multiple rhythms within the same song. I like it!
