Random Word Poetry -- #TankaTuesday

1/31/2023

Hello blog friends,

Today author
Colleen Chesebro invites us to create a poem using select random words. This approach is one that poet Jane Dougherty started last year.

Random Word Poetry is new to me, but it was a fun exercise. I chose the words walk, touch, inhale, and bereave from the assigned list at the bottom of the page. I hope you enjoy it.

My poem consists of a four stanza haiku. The first poem guides the following three, each of which begin with one of the lines from the first poem.

Won't you consider adding your own poem? Here's the list of words. It may seem daunting, but once I started, the words flowed.

I hope you have a wonderful week! ❤️

Gwen, that has to be one of your absolute best! It's so poignant and beautiful, and I love the form. I read it multiple times just to wallow in the images and the words.

I like the challenge of this type of poem. You did a beautiful job of capturing the emotions that go with the passing of a loved one. The silhouette walking down a snowy path alone...says so much.
Veery well done, Gwen.

"Inhaling symphonies" I love that line! That's exactly what it feels like to walk with a loved one in nature amongst the trees and birds.
