When I read the prompt words, I thought of my neighbor who struggles with gait. I thought of a friend who lost his leg; and, I reflected on how we take our movement for granted.
by Gwen M. Plano Each week poet Ronovan Hester sponsors a Haiku prompt challenge, and folks (like me) try to follow his lead. This week the two words are time and movement. If you have interest in this poetic form, please click on his name, and you'll be guided to his website where you'll find detailed instructions.

I love the haiku, Gwen. Right now, with this hot and humid weather, I'm having to take one day on the false leg and one day in the wheelchair to keep my skin from breaking down. It gets hot in that prosthetic liner, lol! In line with your words, I'm grateful for both the prosthetic and the wheelchair. Without either, I wouldn't get around anywhere. Have a lovely week x

What a beautiful use of the prompt, Gwen. When Rick lost his leg and had to eventually resign himself to being in a wheelchair, it totally changed everything. And, when he was faced with losing the other leg, it was more than he could accept and chose to take a way out. Thank you for sharing these exquisite words and thoughts. Hugs!

Thank you, Jan. I am often humbled by the challenges people face. Most go unnoticed to the crowds who pass by, but you know first hand the struggle and the tears. Blessings... ♥

As some who has had two back surgeries, this haiku resonates with me. It's really beautiful, Gwen! I've tried and tried to subscribe to your blog, but for some reason I never receive them. Thanks to Vashti for sharing it on Twitter! xo

Thank you so much, Jill. I don't know how to fix the subscription issue. I've brought it up to Weebly, but it's not resolved. So sorry... ♥

Gwen, my grand mother had both her legs amputated due to gangrene caused by diabetes and I know the impact on her life of not being able to walk, garden or just do the things we take for granted. There are so many simple things we can take for granted.
