Memories of Barcelona

Each week author Colleen Chesbro offers a poetry challenge, and this week she invites poets to choose their inspiration. How fun!

A year ago, my sisters and I (and our husbands) took a cruise from Barcelona to Rome. It was my first adventure on a ship. While wandering the streets of Barcelona, we came across a wall with a carving of a turtle and doves. It inspired me then and inspires me now. My haiku follows.

Oh, Gwen. My challenge was poet's choice this week. I have no idea where the turtle image came from. LOL! It's a lovely haiku poem, though. <3

Oh how funny! I read D.L. Finn's post and she referred to a turtle. I'll make the correction to the post. 😀

I love your haiku, Gwen. I did the Colleen's challenge for a couple years. My time is splitting thin at the moment.

How wonderful that you had a family vacation. We're planning for one going to Australia and New Zealand when the pandemic is over.

We went to Barcelona a few years ago for our anniversary. We joined a tour so didn't have too much time walking on the streets. Your photo of the turtle looks wonderful. There are several colorful turtles in the lake near by. I took some photos of them. But they don't come up to the rocks above the water lately. I hope to see them again.

Oh Miriam, how wonderful to go to Australia and New Zealand when things calm down! Maybe you can post a travel log when you go, as your photos and stories are always captivating. Then readers like me can travel as well. Hugs! 🙂

It's so much fun traveling with family, especially siblings. Lovely wall sculpture and beautiful poem to go with it. Barcelona, my father's birthplace. :)

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
