Life Travelers...

Hello readers! It's time for another poem.

Because this is the second week of the month, author Colleen Chesebro invites writers to use synonoms of two selected words in their poem. This week the words are LIFE and MOVE.

I've chosen a challenging topic and the Butterfly Cinquaina, nine-line syllabic form (2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2) for my poem. I hope you like it.

A beautifully written poem which I am sure most readers can relate to. I certainly do. The poem's required nine line use of syllables was a challenge and you met the challenge. Well-done.

Thank you so much, Karen. Somehow the image of a butterfly came to mind and thus I tried the Butterfly Cinquaina. 💗

After reading Denise's Story Empire post today, I am in even more awe of your talent with poetry, Gwen---the fact that you can conjure such strong emotion in so few words. This was wistful and haunting.

Thank you, John. This was a first attempt with this poetic form but it fit my reveries. 😊

Hi My Dear,

Your thoughts threw me back to unfilled dreams that I hope to accomplish still. They are still precious to me, and I don't want to take unfilled dreams to my grave.

And thanks for putting your thoughts to paper. They made me take a few moments to think about my journey.

Take care.

Having just moved cross-country from Arizona to Michigan in January, I can sympathize with you on the packing and moving part. I think your choice of butterfly cinquain (flying) is a wonderful addition to your poem. Well done, Gwen. There is a poignant sense of moving on in this poem as well. <3

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
