Lessons from Nature

Hello blog friends. This week poet Colleen Chesebro invites us to write a syllabic poem based upon the theme of lessons from nature. Intrigued? I was, and I thought immediately of my garden. Because I live in the high desert of Prescott, AZ, my yard is covered with rocks. I wanted a garden, so I created several little dirt oases. This was a first for me. But now, I'm enjoying the results. My poem is a simple Haiku (5-7-5).

a harvest of dreams

Have a wonderful week, blog friends. And, if you feel inspired, please share one of your lessons from nature. 😊

What beautiful tomatoes, Gwen. I'm so envious. I got three this year is all. You and your garden look terrific. Lovely poem.

Thanks so much, John. I had several plants, but one went nuts and became a small tree. It's taking over the planter and moving into the rocks. It's massive and I don't know why. I'd like to clone it. 😊 It's the one with all the tomatoes.

I love gardening in raised beds rather than a big plot. I find it prettier and easier. So happy you found a little oasis for yourself. Loved the poem, too.

Hi,
Yes indeed it does. And the more time you give to patience and love, the greater the harvest.
Beautiful tomatoes.

The soil in Florida is largely pretty sandy, Gwen, though some areas are more fertile than others. But raised beds filled with enriched soil are fairly common around these parts, especially for growing vegetables and the like. Yours looks lovingly tended and here's to a bountiful harvest!

What I've learned about nature over nearly 80 years would fill a pretty big book, but I'll paraphrase an old movie here, and say that given enough time, "nature almost always finds a way." Of course, it helps nature do so when we don't release non-native, invasive species into our wild places to disrupt everything. Maybe one day, we'll finally get that message out to everyone, and give Mother Nature something to smile about.

Beautiful post, beautiful poem! 😊❤️
