In Pursuit of Compassion

For the first week of a month, author Colleen Chesebro encourages writers to pen a poet's choice! By that she means, writers choose the topic, the image, and the poetic form.

Over these last months, I've been deeply moved by the unsung heroes in our midst. Some fight crime, others run into flames, still more race to save a failing heart. These men and women in uniform follow the call of compassion. Because of their leadership, their faithfulness, and their selflessness, we have hope for our collective humanity. 💗

Hi,

I like this poem. A poignant truth about all the unsung heroes everywhere. who do jobs that we would never dream of doing.
Beautifully said.

Thank you so much, Pat. Before retirement I was an administrator at a college near Camp Pendleton in CA. I oversaw Veterans Affairs. The returning Marines taught me a lot about about service and courage. Though none of them would call themselves heroes, they were and are - forever - heroes to me. Shalom

Thank you, dear Jill. It troubles me deeply to see these brave men and women discounted. I've military, police, and boarder patrol in my extended family. My heart goes out to them and to all in service roles. 💗

Unsung heroes have never shine brighter than they have this past year. A nice tribute! By the way this past week was Nurses Week, a time when special acknowledgment is paid🙂
