Hope in the darkness...

Author Colleen Chesebro is a dedicated and award-winning poet. Each week she invites readers to join her in creating something beautiful. This week's theme prompt is The Night Sky. I chose to write a haiku, a 5-7-5 syllable poem, as my response. Perhaps you’d like to join me in this effort. If so, just click on the link above and you’ll be guided to Colleen’s blog site and her instructions.

My backstory is a simple one. We are living through a prolonged night caused by COVID-19. At times it seems hope eludes us. The whispers of possibilities are barely heard through the noise of fear. My poem...

Gwen, First, I am so sorry you are going through Covid. I can't even imagine how you are feeling. Your haiku is beautiful. I'm sending you good juju and huge hugs to help battle the virus. <3

Thank you so much, Colleen. I don't have COVID, but family members have or have had it. What a journey this year has been! Blessings. ❤

You are so right, Gwen. We are in a dark period, but one spark of hope makes the stars dance! Great haiku!

Thank you, Jan. Yesterday a toddler watched me when I was shopping. I said hello behind my facemask, and his face lit up with a beautiful smile. Made my day. There's the hope we need. 😊

Given all that has befallen us in 2020 it would be so easy to give into that darkness of night, but I agree that light will always bring hope.
A beautiful haiku, Gwen.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
