Hello blog friends!

Since I last posted, I've traveled to New York and Connecticut to visit my adult children and my beautiful grandchildren. What an extraordinary trip it was! It had been several years since I had seen them, and my heart literally ached to be with them. Don't we all know that feeling?

What most impressed me about the journey was the wisdom and awareness of my four children. COVID had left us bereft of everyday contact, but it also drove us deep within to resources we may not have known we had. Perhaps this is true of most of us -- through it all, we have discovered or rediscovered inner strength and purpose.

The journey was not without its challenges and topping the list was a scheduled flight that had no pilot. After a few anxious hours, American Airlines located one in another city, so eventually we were on our way. There were other flight hurdles, but the end result was all that mattered. I got to spend precious time with my kids.

I'll be meeting you at your blog sites over the next few days. While traveling, I had no access to the blog sphere, so I've much catching up to do.

I leave you with a poem and a photo. My best wishes for your day. . .   💚

remember childhood

when imaginations soared

and laughter followed

remember the games we played

we hadn't yet learned to worry

So glad you were about to spend time with your family. I'll bet it was a heart warming trip. Sorry about the pilot but good to know you didn't have one before the plane took off. Welcome back, Gwen.

It was a wonderful trip, John. Thank you. And as for the pilot, I was relieved we waited until they found one. 😊

Sounds like you managed to have a pretty good time. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.

So true, Craig. One thing I learned about flying coast to coast -- make sure there plenty of time between connections. 😊

Terrific piece, Gwen. Having taught young children, I've had the same type of thoughts. Second graders are so accepting of all. They just want to be friends with everyone. It's a truly beautiful and innocent attitude. Prejudices seem to come out more as they get older.

I don't think I took traveling for granted, but I have a greater appreciation for it since the world of Covid. When something is temporarily gone, it makes us realize how lucky we are.

Thank you, Pete. I used to travel a lot, and this trip reminded me of how much I've missed doing so. All the best...

In spite of the difficulties of flying today, you made it! Yay, YOU! I haven't seen my daughter and family in 2 years, so I know how happy you must have been to be with them again! Wonderful picture, wonderful poem, and wonderful insights! Thanks so much for sharing with us, Gwen, and here's to a super Tuesday! 🤗💖🤗

Thank you, dear Marcia. As I traveled, I thought of all the families separated by covid and other catastrophes. It's heartbreaking. I'm ever so grateful to have spent time with my kids and grandkids -- and I so wish the same for you. 💗

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
