Happy New Year!

Hello, blog friends!

I hope you had a truly wonderful Christmas. The holidays seem particularly special this year, don't they? With so much confusion in our world, each indication of peace, joy, or love is deeply appreciated.

I've another poem to share. This week Colleen Chesebro invites us to write an Abhanga - a three stanza poem of 4 lines each, with syllables of 6-6-6-4 and with lines 2 and 3 rhyming. Participants are expected to include a seasonal word or phrase in each stanza. I've highlighted my selected words.

I hope you enjoy this poem. It's my first attempt at this Korean structure. Thumbs up or down, it was fun to create.

I sincerely wish you a very Happy New Year.  Let's cheer in 2024 and claim it for prosperity. We deserve it, don't you agree?

Thank you so much, Mae. I hope your Christmas was filled with love and joy . . . and I hope the New Year is an extension of that blessing. ❤️

This appears to be one of the most difficult poetry challenges, but you "nailed it." The last phrase is powerful: :...offers us precious breath we decide life or death by our choices."
Well done and Happy New Year to you also.

Very well done, Gwen. It's funny, when I read your description of the format for the poem, I can't imagine what it will look like. When I see it, it's an ah-ha moment.

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season - Happy New Year!

Thanks so much, Dan. I've gotten behind on reading blogs, but I'll be catching up soon. The Christmas break was a needed one for all of us, I think. All the best to you in this New Year. 😊

Thanks, Priscilla. I wrote my poem, then realized I was supposed to have L2 and L3 rhyming. So, I rewrote it, but kept the intent the same. It's an interesting form. 😊

I can see how difficult this form could be but in your hands looks like child's play. Excellent job, Gwen. Happy New Year to you.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
