An Arizona Eclipse

4/8/2024

Hello blog friends!

I've another poem to share with you. Colleen Chesebro invites interested readers to write about their experience of the Solar Eclipse. In Arizona, we only have a partial eclipse, so my tanka reflects this limited viewing.

It seems clouds dominate across the eclipse path through the United States, and this is true of my area. The photo below is not mine, but it is similar.

I hope you have an extraordinary viewing point, and I wish you all the best!

We had a perfect view of the 90.5% eclipse from our front stoop.

Oh, how wonderful, Liz. It must have been extraordinary. In our area there was a very slight dimming, almost undetectable.

It was quite something to see. The sky did darken, and the temperature dropped.

Lucky are those whose skies allowed this. I might have been sleeping then... MOst loveliest of poems, dear Gwen. Thanks for sharing.

Even with the clouds, we had a really nice viewing time (clouds were only occasional for us, and our eclipse was in the 95% range). Beautiful poem, Gwen. I love the romantic spin you put on yesterday's wondrous event!

You describe the event perfectly, Gwen. We had a spectacular full eclipse view. The clouds parted for the main event and it was breathtaking.

Love your poem, Gwen. Fits perfectly!

We didn't have a full eclipse here in Florida, but the sun did get a "bite" taken out of one side, and that was something I'd never seen before, so I was happy. The rest I watched on TV. An amazing thing, for sure!

Thanks so much, Marcia. It's fun to see the excitement on television, but at least you saw a bite - that's a treat too! ❤️

That's a great eclipse poem. We were lucky here in Dallas. We had a total solar eclipse on a clear sky. It's a huge difference between a total solar eclipse and even a 99% partial. It was certainly an amazing experience. I made a blog entry about it.

It's such a lovely poem, Gwen. My area would have had about an 85% of total. Unfortunately, it was cloudy, and a lot of dirt in the air from high winds. Even so, there was some of that eclipse eerie feeling in the air. Hugs.

Beautiful poem, Gwen! We only saw a partial eclipse in my area, and I missed most of it because I was teaching. The next one will cross my path though, so I'm excited about that.

We had a little bit of cloud cover, too in addition to not seeing much of the eclipse from Prescott. It was a glorious day, though.

Gwen, what an amazing photo. I love your tanka! I wrote a magical story a while back about Father Sun and Mother Moon during an eclipse. Your poem would have gone with the story perfectly. 🩷
