A parent's relief...

Each week poet Ronovan Hester sponsors a Haiku prompt challenge, and folks (like me) try to follow his lead. This week the two words are woke and up. If you have interest in this poetic form, please click on his name, and you'll be guided to his website where you'll find detailed instructions.

When I read the prompt words, I was brought back to when my adult kids were teenagers. I thought of how grateful I was to be awakened by their laughter, no matter what time of the day or night it might be. I suspect all parents share this experience.  ♥  We're happy when our kids are happy - and safe.

Lovely haiku, Gwen. I was reminded of my parents when my siblings and I were teens. It made me feel warm and fuzzy. :D xx

I loved this, Gwen. Like Vashti, it reminded me of my childhood. My mother would be waiting at the top of the stairs for me when I went out at night. :)

I felt the same way Gwen with my kids. Knowing they were home safe and enjoying themselves. Brought back wonderful memories!

Thank you, D. L. We parents worry about our kids through the years, don't we? Love takes many forms. ♥

What a wonderful haiku, Gwen. I can't tell you how many times I have felt this way as well. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you, John. Do you suppose our parents waited up? :)

Beautiful! And, then the relief that follows that thought, "my kids are home," always brought peace.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
