Below is my first attempt to stretch a bit with this demanding poetic form. I've entitled it YOU.
It's #Tanka Tuesday and author Colleen Chesebro has declared the first Tuesday of the month a Poet's Choice. She's also urged writers to consider alternative options, something new. I've followed her suggestion and tried the Diatelle. I'd never heard of this poetic form until Colleen's post. If you haven't as well, I'll explain. It has a complicated verse structure that includes syllables of 1/2/3/4/6/8/10/12/10/8/6/4/3/2/1 and adds an additional challenge of a rhyme pattern of abbcbccaccbcbba.

You did so well, Gwen. I'm impressed. Such a beautiful moment you portraited and the perfect picture. I just finished mine and found this the hardest poem I've ever had to put together. It actually made my head hurt.
