A little laughter

Milton Berle once said, “Laughter is an instant vacation.” Well, I’m inviting you to take a vacation today. Truly. After you finish reading your Valentine’s Day cards, sit back and consider my discovery.

On Monday, author John Howell published a list of Top 10 Gifts Not to Give on Valentine’s Day. Well, his number one not-to-give was a magnet for the dishwasher that indicates clean vs. dirty.

What? I didn’t know these existed.

Everyday without fail, my husband asks me, “Are these clean or dirty?” Sometimes I beat him to the punch and tell him his needed answer. It always makes me smile. Is it really that complicated?

It turns out that it is.

I went to Amazon and checked. There are 20 pages of magnets for the dishwasher that let a person know if the dishes are clean or not. AND, there are 1000s of reviews. 1000s! Who knew? Folks may not write a review for a book but they certainly write reviews for dishwasher magnets.

I’m going to share a secret. I know how to have a best seller. Can you guess? You just need the right book cover.

What a riot, Gwen. I had to laugh out loud with the thought of all those people asking all those questions about the dishwasher. The cover idea is terrific. Think of the reviews. :-D

I know, right? Clean or Dirty would be a great title and magnets could be handed out at the book signings. Oh my, so many possibilities. :D

Great post Gwen. There is also the issue as to how a man loads a dishwasher (according to my wife) so there is an idea for the second book in your series. Man and the dishwasher will keep science and research going for centuries to come, or at least raise some Hotpoints.

Wow! What a concept and a book cover that would definitely sell. The options could be limitless and as you say, marketing could be really fun!

I first saw the magnet at a friends house and thought how clever. We do the sponge in the dishwasher as our clue but the magnet is very fancy. Your idea of the perfect book cover has me laughing...it is all in our approach and now I'm wondering what other covers there could be like this:) Happy Valentine's Day Gwen.

Thank you, D.L. It's fun to think about. We could be quite inventive and have some good laughs in the process. ♥

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
