A haiku adventure

Hello blog friends, today writer Colleen Chesebro invites aspiring poets to use a particular syllabic form - haiku. Traditionally, haiku is written about nature and that is an easy topic for me. In northern Arizona, the sights are breathtaking and every day I walk the paths into its beauty.

Now and then, I'm able to capture something extraordinary with my cell phone. The photo below is of Watson Lake, about ten miles from my home. Always beautiful, this pariticular day it was stunning.

My poem is a simple 3 - 5 - 3 syllable haiku. I hope you like it. Blessings on your day!

Lovely, Gwen. Are there really storms approaching you?

Thank you, David. This photo was taken just before it rained. Lovely isn't it? 😊

That was my question as well, David. Very different from the stormy skies I'm accustomed to!

The skies in northern Arizona are dramatic. I'm always in awe -- rain or shine, storm or calm. Like you, I never saw anything like what I see now, and I lived on both the East and West coasts and in the Midwest. 😊

Your haiku and photo are lovely, Gwen. That pink glow from the sun reflected on the water is really stunning. With the two together, this becomes a haiga. Is Arizona ready for moisture? I know that state had the prettiest sunsets in the winter. <3

Thank you so much, Colleen. Last I heard, the rain and snow have notably raised the water table. Watson Lake is high again. Fingers crossed it stays that way. 😊

That photo is lovely. And adding the pink that reflects in the water to the side of the poem gives it an added bonus. I like. Though, I cannot tell it's fixing to rain... And the haiku is marvelous. Love it. Thanks.

Your photo is stunning, Gwen. That layer of moisture filtered the sun yet it still shined through to create the reflection on the water. Your poem beautifully captured that moment! Perfect!
