A Desert Walk -- #TankaTuesday response

Hello blog friends! It's Tanka Tuesday and author Colleen Chesebro has a special challenge for us. She asks that we share our day, and I'm delighted to do so.

Just before 6:00 AM, I went for a walk along a desert path. I'm always struck by the beauty of this area, especially in the morning light. The flowers and other vegetation fill my soul.

Though my walks are solitary, I'm never alone. Birds are everywhere present and always playful. Most endearing for me are the ravens. Because they see me every day, they recognize me and always want to chat. I've learned to say hello and only then will they be quiet.

My two tanka try to capture this morning experience - - -

Your walks sound lovely and restorative, Gwen---every bit as much as your Tankas.

I’m envious, Gwen. Your nature walks sound wonderful. I can’t wait until I’m back in the country instead of in town. Lovely work. Thanks for sharing.

I miss walking surrounded by nature. My neighborhood walks are not the same though I try to concentrate on the songs from the birds and gaze at trees and flowers around the houses.
Thank you for your poem which filled my heart with peace.

Lovely poetry, Gwen. I am in the city for the moment, but still, the birds are singing, neighbors have beautiful flowers and shrubs, and interesting insects cross my path. Plus I have wonderful canine company.:-)

I found myself taking a deep breath and relaxing reading your beautiful words. I also have a pair of ravens who follow along my walks too. They used to mimic our dogs, when the pups were young and would bark at everything, that always made me smile.
