Through a window...

Hello, blog friends ~

This morning folks in my part of the world were surprised by a red (or deep orange) sky. I took the photo below at 6AM. I'm sure you know the riddle,
Red sky at night, sailors' delight. Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Well, there are no sailors in the high desert, so I don't know  what the red sky means. BUT, it was breathtakingly beautiful to behold.

Melissa Lemay provides the Tanka Tuesday prompt today. She asked poets to "observe from a window, write about their surroundings, and create a tanka poem using sensory imagery and personal reflections." I've included my poem below the photo.

Picture
morning light proclaims

with fiery shades of scarlet

a new day is born

arise, receive the blessings

life awaits your acceptance

I hope you have a wonderful week. Be well, laugh much, and cuddle with the little creatures of life - two or four legged. ❤️

So true, Dan. My hubby took a photo about 15 minutes later, and the sky had turned a soft rose color. 🌞

Usually the sky turns red when there are wildfires nearby. I hope this is just Mother Nature's trick.
Lovely tanka, Gwen.

Like you, Balroop, I thought about wildfires, but there were none in that area. It was a natural phenomenon. Pretty amazing. Thank you so much. 🌞

It's almost like the prompt elicited the sunrise, or the other way around. Isn't that spectacular? What a gorgeous photo, Gwen. The uplifting energy in your poem makes them a perfect pair.

Thanks so much, Diana. The sunrise truly took my breath away. I only had my cell with me, but the scene deserved a much better camera. ❤️

Beautiful. Ours was that shade last night, as was the sun. The sun was almost irresistible. Yours must be because of all the forest fires. I think that is what is causing ours. Stay safe!

A wonderful sky absolutely amazing over here in the you UK it would be rare to see a fantastic orange sky.
Our saying is "Red sky at night shepherds delight, red sky in the morning shepherds warning".

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
