Morning Promises

Good morning blog friends!

In the high desert of Arizona, we are in the midst of the monsoon season. The heavens are very active these days - with thunder, lightning, and hail. I love the energy and the surprises.

Colleen Chesebro invites us to reflect on our experience of the season. My simple tanka and a morning photo offer a glimpse of the daily experience in this locale. Sometimes the clouds pass us by, but often they visit with a fury. I hope you enjoy this peek.

My seasonal words are shades of rain, thunder rumbles, and monsoon. 😊

Wherever you live, I hope nature is kind to you. My daughter lives in Connecticut, and she's felt the brunt of the recent storm. Rain is much needed in many parts of the country, but when it is a lengthy deluge, it can be destructive. Be safe, my friends.

Sorry to hear your daughter's area got deluged. We are in one of the dry areas of the country and could sure use some rain! Beautiful poem and picture, Gwen!

Thank you, Priscilla. We are grateful for every drop we get. An added plus is that I don't need to water the garden. 😊

You are right, lots of rain at once can be pretty destructive. Right now it is very dry and hot here in northern Texas but last year we had severe flooding, which was not fun. I am sorry your daughter was in a storm. it is interesting you call the rainy period Monsoon. I was in India on a business trip during the Monsoon period. I loved your Monsoon poem.

Thank you, Thomas. Since I was a kid, I've wanted to visit India - and that hope is yet to be realized. 🌞

Boy, do I envy the rain. I wish we could get some. Your poem reminded me of how the air smells after a storm. Always a joy.

I understand that envy, because we've been waiting quite a while for rain. It rained more last night, so we've more than we need now. Like you, I love the freshness after a storm. Hope you get the needed rain soon. 🌞

I love the unusual mix of words--thunder and optimism, monsoon and grandeur. Lovely, Gwen.

Each piece of nature is beautiful, although often it does become destructive. You captured it in your poem, dear Gwen. Love the photo and the poem!

Hi Gwen our weather has changed again and we took are back to rain and storms. Our island is battered and bashed. The UK is probably smaller than any of your states so we do get similar wear in all four countries... We get huge storms...for us maybe not for you.... And their not all natural some are political but I won't touch on that. I hope you and all your family stay dry, safe and happy 💜

Thank you, dear Willow, for your kind wishes and for explaining about the UK weather. Because the U.S. weather is varied, it's a frequent topic of conversation. 🌞

I hope your daughter's home wasn't damaged in the storm, Gwen. We had a short but powerful storm roll through again today. I hope you got the rain you need, but no damage.

Stay safe and dry. We are expecting some thunderstorms this afternoon - probably because the temps are riding in the high 90'sF with a real feel of 105!

It would be nice if we could give rain to those places that needed it. A deluge doesn't really help anyone. The last big storm here knocked another tree over the creek - not our yard this time. We've already cleared three trees - about one every ten years.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
