Everyday Treasures

Hello, blog friends ~

It's Tanka Tuesday, and poet Selma Martin has a special prompt for interested participants. She asks that we use synonyms for these two words in our poem: mindless and humdrum.

I've focused on the morning light. Daily, I am moved by the silence that accompanies this early morning experience, and almost without fail, I see that which I didn't see the day before. My tanka uses these synonyms to capture the experience - daydreaming, everyday, and treadmills.

I hope you enjoy it.

Have a wonderful day, dear friends. Even amidst the craziness in which we live, there's extraordinary beauty. Let's escape into that miracle. ❤️

I love the early hours where I am on my own and do not have to share my thoughts or presence with anyone.
I really feel your beautiful Tanka. 💜💜

Mornings are the best. And what I love about the stage I’m in now is how I get to tone down the speed and volume of my mornings. This is what I found in this lovely tanka, Gwen. Tranquility. In the ordinary that’s oh so extraordinary. Just so lovely. Thanks for joining.

A lovely poem, Gwen. The stillness of morning is so peaceful and you are right, in that stillness, we can see things we might otherwise miss.

Thank you, Jan. I often encounter nature's creatures. On this morning's walk, I encountered two coyotes, and I backstepped quickly. 🌞

Well, the window is to the side. It faces a TV where I can mirror the book I'm reading from Kindle. Time flies by when I'm reading and treading!

Yes, everymorning - I refill my birdfeeders - and find new vistas to gander upon. I walk the length of my yard and enjoy the play of light and shadow and listen to the morning song of the birds.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
