A Simple Haiku ~

Dear blog friends,

We had unexpected visitors this past week. Hubby's daughter and son-in-law were required to evacuate their home in Southern California due to the fire threat. Fortunately, their house was not damaged -- and we had a precious time visiting with each other. My heart goes out to all who were not as fortunate.

In our area of Northern Arizona, fire is a very real threat, but there are regular "controlled" fires to mitigate that possibility. We often see smoke rising in the distance over the grazing fields and farmland, but those fires are for our protection.

I've been quiet for a bit, because my computer had a meltdown and had to go to computer hospital. Fingers crossed, it seems to be working now. BUT...I will be flying back East next week to be with family and celebrate the life of my beautiful daughter-in-law. I will try to visit blogs over these next couple of days. ❤️

This week's #TankaTuesday is led by Melissa Lemay. She invites us to write a Haiku. I've decided to focus on gardeners and farmers. With the change in seasons, folks are planting seeds for a summer harvest. I wonder if you are working in your garden as well. 😊

Have a wonderful week!

I'm glad you were there for your family, Gwen. I read about those evacuations. It must be awful to have to leave your home.

Wishing you safe travels.

Aren't the muddied hands of a gardener beautiful? I enjoyed your haiku, Gwen!

Safe travels. (And yay for your computer getting fixed!)

I've read about that disaster fire in California, and didn't know it was a threat for you. The controlled fires are probably good. We don't have that threat here in our area, but they had such a huge forest fire in Canada that our air got smoky. I hope you have a nice trip.

Thanks so much, John. It's a long journey alone, but I'll be with my kids and there's nothing better than that.

I like your haiku. That's what life's all about, planting and nurturing those seeds so they will grow and flourish. I hope your trip East goes well.

That is very scary. I am glad your hubby's daughter and son-in-law are safe. You wrote a beautiful little poem. I was recently turning soil before planting tomato plants.

Working in the soil is refreshing, isn't it? When I return, I'm planting my tomato plants.

sending healing grace your way, Gwen. For you and your dear family. And even for your computer. Be well. Great haiku. I love the season. But today is the last day of May. Bracing up for a hot June. But life is never ending. bless you again.

A wonderful metaphor for life, your life, but also for those who read the poem.

On the fire matter, here we too have bush fire mitigation, it has mixed results. There is a growing voice to use indigenous techniques called cool burning. My computer didn't come back from hospital - so I had to get a new one, sigh.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
