A poem -- Listen

Hello, blog friends!

It's #TankaTuesday, and I've some wonderful news. Colleen Chesebro, our poetry guru, is back  with a new prompt. She invites interested writers to create a taiga, which is a new from that uses a black and white image, paired with a syllabic poem.

My contribution is a Butterfly Cinquain -- a nine-line syllabic form with the pattern 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2. I hope you like it.

Wonderful poem, Gwen. I love how you used "come now" as both the two-syllable center of the poem and the Volta.

This Cinquan is so beautiful. I could feel the flow, the flapping of the silky wings. And those last two lines...Love them!

Gwen, this is beautiful. So the taiga is a tanka written on a black and white image. We chose the black and white image because of printing costs for the Sunflower Tanka Anthology. But, I enjoyed your butterfly cinquain. Black and white photography is so expressive because of the light and dark tones. ❤️

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. ―Viktor E. Frankl, Man’s Search for Meaning
